Passengers arriving from USA must have a printed negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 96 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Egypt. The test must be based on a nasal or oral swab. The test result must have a stamp of the issuing laboratory or a QR code.

This does not apply to passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure. Vaccines accepted are: AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik V. The certificate must be in Arabic, French or English; and – have a QR code or must be approved by the Egyptian Embassy in the country of departure.

This does not apply to passengers with an electronic COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued in Egypt by the Egyptian Ministry of Health showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure. Vaccines accepted are: AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik V. The certificate must have the logo of the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

Passengers arriving directly at Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF), Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) or Taba (TCP) without a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test result are subject to a PCR test upon arrival at their own expense.

Exit Tests for Guests

Entry and Exit Requirements

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes.
    • All passengers traveling to Egypt (including Egyptians) must be in possession of a negative PCR test certificate for COVID-19, taken at a maximum of 72 hours before their flight departure time.

 

Movement Restrictions

  • Is a curfew in place? No
  • Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? No

 

Quarantine Information 

  • Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine?
    • Upon arrival, travelers to Sharm El Sheikh are allowed to arrive without a PCR test and then be tested upon arrival. In this situation, the travelers have to quarantine until the test results are known and then isolate if the test results are positive.
    • Travelers who arrive with to any location in Egypt with a negative PCR test are not required to quarantine.
    • Anyone that tests positive for COVID-19 while in Egypt is required to quarantine for 14 days.
    • Travelers must present paper copies of the test results; digital copies will not be accepted.

 

Fines for Non-Compliance (if applicable)

  • Individuals who do not adhere to precautionary measures such as wearing a mask indoors may be subject to an immediate fine or prosecution
